WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul intends to construct certain sewers and improve existing sewers in the vacated portion of Arundel Street from Atwater-Street to Topping Street and to construct a public sewer in Burgess Street from Mackubin Street to Como Avenue and to construct sewers in Stinson Street and Burgess Street east of Arundel Street, all such construction and improvements being a part of the ATWATER -KENT RELIEF SEWER SYSTEM; and WHEREAS, in order to perform such construction and to install said sewers, it will be necessary for the Great Northern Railway z,Company to remove a certain spur track owned by it located in Arundel Street and serving the City Asphalt Plant and the Inter -City Paper Company, together with a certain spur track which crosses Burgess Street west of Mackubin Street;and WHEREAS, said Great Northern Railway Company has agreed to remove said tracks and to replace said tracks after construction at those points where the track crosses the proposed alignment of the public sewers contemplated by the ATWATER_ -KENT RELIEF SEWER SYSTEM and described above, said removal and replacement of track to be performed for an estimated cost of $3,450.00, which cost must be borne by the City of Saint Paul; now, therefore, be it ` RESOLVED; 'That' -tYie -proper` City - officers are liereby aithorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Saint Paul, Application for Pipe Line Permit addressed to the Great Northern Railway -and covering the spur tracks located as�above described,_ and deliver said Permit to the Great Northern Railway- Company, a"copy of said Permit being attached_to and made a part of this resolution; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon completion of the removal of said spur tracks, installation of said sewers, and replacement of said tracks, the proper•City officials are hereby authorized and directed COUNCILMEN Yeas Nays DeCourcy Holland Loss n Favor Mortinson Peterson Rosen Mr. President, Vavoulis 5M 6-61 Adopted by the Council 19— V ' ORIG0)A11,10 CITY CLERK CITY OF ST. Approved Casing Pipes are as follows: Steel Pipe with minimum yield strength of 35,000 psi and thicknesses in accordance with AREA specifications. Cast Iron Pipe- American Standards Association specification A21 class 150 for 12" and under and class 250 for over 12 ", mechanical joint type or plain end with compression type couplings when installed by open trench. CONSTRUCTION OF PIPE LINES CARRYING NON - FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCES UNDER RAILWAY TRACKS Pipe lines included under these specifications are those installed to carry steam, water, or any non - flammable sub- stance which from its nature or pressure might cause damage if escaping on or in the vicinity of railway property.' Sewers and drains do not require casing pipe unless conditions exist which would endanger security of track, but should be of coated corrugated metal or reinforced concrete for that part of line under roadbed according to Railway Company specifications. Approved Casing Pipes are as follows: Cast iron pipe —extra heavy, ASTM A- 142 -38. Reinforced concrete pipe — Current ASTM C -76 57 T Table IV wall "B ".
