W1UREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported,
in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of
an emergency during the period from April 16th to April 30th 1962
inclusive, which rendered necessary the employment of certain
employees of the Water Department for more than eight hours per day
or forty #ours per week in doing the following work:
1 Repairing equipment, various stations.
2 Working extra shifts,various stations.
3 Finishing installation of new water mains.
4 Driving country crew to and from work.
5 Fighting grass fires on Water Dept. property.
AND WBEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following
facts and circumstances:
1 Necessary to do work during low consumption hours.
2 Absence of employees on regular shifts.
3 In order to give consumers water as soon as possible.
(4 On account of scattered work locations.
5 Fires occurred on holiday.
THEREFORE, BE IT RtSOLVED,' that the proper city officers
are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work
in accordance with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance,
Ordinance No. 6446.
