WHEREAS, It is necessary to have specially trained men to act as golf pro-
fessionals at the Como, Highland and Phalen golf courses, and
WHEREAS, Such special training requires:
1. Ability to repair golf clubs and advise in their use;
2. Ability to oversee and regulate the playing upon an assigned course;
3. Ability to advise in connection with the construction and maintenance
of fairways and bunkers;
4. Ability to organize, train and direct caddies;
5. Experience in professional golf work and in teaching golf; and
WHEREAS, Frank Fiorito, Winton Christianson and Mitch Tardiff possess
the required ability and have the required training, and the said Frank Fiorito, .
Winton Christianson and Mitch Tardiff are willing to enter into contracts with
the City of Saint Paul to act as golf professionals at the Como, Highland and
Phalen courses, respectively, for the season of 1962, beginning April 20,.
1962, and ending October 31,. 1962, on the basis of $1, 500 each for said period,
plus the privilege of retaining receipts for teaching and the sale and repair of
golf equipment; and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings
has recommended that contracts be entered into with the said Frank Fiorito,
Winton Christianson and Mitch- 5-Tardiff upon the aforesaid basis, with the pro-
vision that the contracts may be cancelled by the Commissioner of Parks and
Recreation and Public Buildings, for cause, upon twenty -four hours' written
notice to the respective golf professionalsi therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Council concurs in the recommendation of the
Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings, and the Corporation
Counsel is hereby authorized to draw the contracts therefor, and the proper City
officers are authorized to execute the same on behalf of the City.
