WHEREAS, on December 15, 1994 fourteen Police Officer
Candidates will graduate from Saint Paul Police Academy Class 1994-
2; and
WHEREAS, this event is open to the general public, attended by
many prominent persons from both the private and public sectors of
our City and usually receives significant media coverage; and
WHEREAS, a facility is needed to accommodate up to four
hundred potential guests safely and comfortably; and
WHEREAS, traditionally, at an event such as this refreshments
(cake, coffee and non-alcoholic punch) are provided to guests after
the ceremony; therefore
BE IT ORDERED that pursuant to the 1994 City Budget, the
• proper City officials are hereby authorized to remit an amount not
to exceed $500.00 to the University of Saint Thomas, AQU219, 2115
Summit Avenue, 5aint Paul, Minnesota 55105-1096. This is to cover
the expense incurred for providing auditorium rental, public
address rental and catering services necessary for the graduation
ceremony.
A copy of said order is to be kept on file and on record in
the Department of Finance and Management Services.

Police academy graduation is open to the public and a facility large enough to
acco�aodate up to 400 guests is needed. Brady Auditorium at the University of St_ Thomas
provides the seating capaci[y and necessary parking space.
Traditionallp, cake and coffee are pzovided after the ceremony and St. Thomas also
provides a reasonably priced catering service.
The academy graduation is attened by many prominent persons from both the public and
private sectors of our city, including Mayor Coleman and many councilpersons. The proper
facility allows us to'show the Police Department in a favorable light, and showcase onr
City government to the public.'
