05-634Council File # ov � v�� Ordinance # Green Sheet # a J���,� ORDINANCE CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA Presented By Refened To Z�I Committee Date : An ordinance amending Saint Paul Legislative Code ` § 33.04(G) pertaining to fees imposed on certain pernuts for work related to the demolition of buildings or structures and for work on various types signs. >_� �.� 1 ; la: THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN: Section 1 That Legislative Code § 33.04(g), entitled "Other Permit Fees," is hereby amended by adding the following new language as indicated at by deleting certain old language as indicated: Sec. 33.04(G) Other permit fees: Permit fees for other than general construction shall be as follows: (1) Wrecking of buildings or structures. $4.00 per 1,000 cubic feet or fraction thereof, minimum $58.00, with the exception of sims as specified in p�a�nh (10) below ., (10) Signs, billboards, marquees and awnings: `,� o S� (a) Wall siens; reaf, and projecting �eest�img signs: $�1-6 2.60 for each square foot with a minimum fee of $5�66 70_00. (b) Marquees over public properiy: $138.00 for each installarion. (c) . . Renair Permit: 25% of the fee for a new si�n with a minimum fee of $70.00. (d) Awnings projecting over public properiy: $2.10 per lineal foot, minimum $58.00 for each installation. Additional fee for business si¢ns located in a special sien district when there aze additional regulations that must be reviewed: 25.00. 2. $.50 Minnesota State Surcharee required for all signs attached to a buildin¢ for perxnit fees up to and including $1,000.00. For permit fees over $1,000.00 the rate is .0005 per nermit fee dollar. � A separate electrical permit is required for all electrical work done on si�ns that are lit, whether intemal or external. lf�c If building modifications are necessarv to accommodate a sign installation. an additional building�ermit shail be re uq ired. To avoid fees being content-based, be it a billboazd or a business sign, this proposal changes the si� perxnit fees so they aze dependent on the average amount of staff work different types of signs require.
