Whyj: Passage of the above reference ordinance would: Set in motion the evenCS contemplated when the 1996 General Fund and Parking and Transit Fund budgets were proposed and adopted, increase revenues to the General Fund by over $300,000 on an annual basis and by a proportionate amount for the remainder of 1996, implement the decision to increase the fine to $15 already made by the Gity Council as part of the 1996 budget process, help to offset the cost of parking enforcement, help deter those individuals that readily violate the parking ordinance, and increase the turnover at the City's parking meters. ADVANiAGES IF APPROVED: Improved compliance with parking ordinances, implementation of the Mayor's and City Council' budget decisions, and increased revenue for the General Fund. DISAVANTAGES IFAPPROVED: There may be some discontent among violators, but this should be offset by the business people who encourage turnover at the parking meters. t.xd''aK'.1 `.'-+R$' ,UL t6 DISADVANTAGESIFNQTAPPROVED: , aa'.av_= .ub:.....:..:..k There would be less compliance with the parking ordinances> Tess turnover u at pa'rking meters, and an adverse impact on the finances anticipated for the 1996 General Fund Budget and the 1996 Parking and Transit Fund budget.
