WHEREAS, The Public LibraryAssociation will be holding its annual conference in Minneapolis from
March 25"' thru March 29�', bringing librarians from all over North America, and,
WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Public Library staff will be abie to take advantage of the talent and skiils
of library staff from varying public institutions by holding a reception on March 27�', and,
WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Public Library has carefully selected 50 people whose efforts in serving
adults in creative ways are known throughout the library community, and,
WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Public Library's reception will allow attendees to interact with staff from
the Saint Paul Public Library and Friends of the Library in a coordinated event intended to increase
the knowledge sharing and build networks amount libraries, and,
WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Public Library has received donated monies from the Friends of the
Library, which will pay the entire cost for the event, and,
NOW, THEREFORE, It Is Ordered that library officials are authorized and directed to undertake the
staging of the event and remit the cost not to exceed $700.00 for the reception to the proper parties.

The PLA Conference will bring librarians from many public institutions together. The reception for 50 selected people will bring
library staff together who have created successful programs for serving adults and allow for an exchange of ideas.
