1 WHEREAS, the training unit of the Saint Paul Police Department is conducting a three day course on
2 Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and DUI Procedures for the 2007-1 Recruit Academy; and

4 WHEREAS, this training course is scheduled for May 21, 22, & 23, 2007 and will be conducted at the
5 Saint Paul Police Department, 367 Grove Street, MN 55101; and
6
7 WHEREAS, this training is specifically designed to train uew police recruits about the effects of alcoholic
8 beverages on people and the impairment it may cause, DWI Violations/Minneosta Statutes and
9 Standardized Field SobrieTy testing; and

11 THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED, that pursuant to the 2007 Ciry Budget, the proper city of£cial(s) are hereby
12 authorized to remit a amount, not to exceed $300.00, to Big Top Wine and Spirits, 1574 University Avenue West,
13 Saint Paul, MN 55104 to cover expenses for alcoholic beverages and refreshments for civilian volunteers
14 participating in this training.

The 2007-1 Sain[ Paul Police Recruit Academy will be conducting training in Standazdized Field Sobriety and DUT A The
h'aining will take place on May 21, 22, and 23, 2007 and is provided by Saint Paul Police officers, h and certified by the
Minnesota State Patrol, designed ro train new police recruits the effects and impairments alcoholic beverages may have on people.
Civilian volunteers will be participants in this training.
Advantages If Approved:
City of Saint Patil police officers will receive certification in the use of techniques.of Standazd Field Sobriety Testing.

Police Officers from the Ciry of Saint Paul will not receive Vaining consistent with established policies and proven best practices.
