The MICAC Task Force targets individuals who use computers to wmmit crimes against children via the intemet. The Dallas training conference offers investigative, forensic, and prosecutorial courses taught by e�cperts from azound the country. The attendees aze imestigators and a prosecutor, all members of MICAC. The participants aze from the White Bear Lake Police Department, the Ramsey County Attomey's Office of Cruuinal Prosecution, and Hennepin County Sheriffs Office. The funds will cover registration, travel, lodging, per diem and related expenses for the 3 participants. All funds come from the Federal MICAC Grant. Outside agencies participafing in the task force aze not compensated for their staffs Ume by the task force. This training is essential for NIICAC members who need to have specialized working knowledge in their respective fields. This is specialized ffaining and no local sources exist for this training. All participants aze employees of agencies associated with or having a memorandum of understanding with the St. Paul Police Department, which is administering the MICAC Task Force. The MICAC Task Force has Federal Grant funds to cover the costs of this travelltraining. ADVANTAGESIFAPPROVED Approval of the administrative order will allow the task force to send 3MICAC task force participants, non city employees, to the Annual ICAC Training Conference in Dallas, Texas. The training offered MICAC members will improve their ability to investigate, analyze evidence, and prosecute internet crimes against children. DISADVANTAGESIFAPPROVED None. DISADVANTAGES IF NOT APPROVED The training for these 3 members of MICAC is essential to the smooth operafion of the task force. Failure to receive adequate trainivg jeopazdizes the ability of the task force to catry out its mission.
