The Saint Paul Legislative Code, Chapter 113, requires property owners/occupants to clear the sidewalks of snow and ice within 24 hours of the most recent snowfall. The cleared area must be at least 36 inches wide and corner lots must be cleared through the crosswalk. If the walk is covered with ice, salt and sand must be applied. If the sidewalk has already been shoveled and cleared of ice, thank you and please disregard this notice. To ensure compliance with the ordinance, a Code Enforcement Officer will inspect the sidewalk on or after the scheduled inspection date on the reverse side. If the snow and/or ice has not been removed by this date, the Enforcement Officer will schedule a City work crew to immediately do the work. The cost of snow removal is$150 per hour with a % hour minimum. Sand/salt is $80 per hour with a % hour minimum. Administrative costs are extra. This will be added to the special assessments against the property,to be paid with the Real Estate Taxes. If repeat violations of the snow removal ordinance are documented, the inspector may issue a violations citation.
