WHEREAS, Said Committee on Streets of said Board of Aldermen
did meet at the last named time and place above menti oned, and did then
and there hear all testimony and evidence adduced on the part of said
petitioners and all other parties interested in the natter of said
proposed vacation, and did take proof of the matter averred in said
petition, and being of the opinion that the prayer of said petition
should be granted, except as to Jefferson Avenue , to the extent and
upon the terms hereinafter stated, did duly report its conclusions to
said. Board of Aldermen; recommending the adoption of an appropriate

that portion of Lydia street, Grace street and Sloan street lying
and adjacent to Blocks One, (1) , Four (4) , Five (5) and Eir.t(8)
and the alleys in said Blocks, of said St.John' s Wood Addition
to ct.Paul, and hontrose avenue, designated on the recorded plat
as Cretin avenue, lying in said Addition, as shown by said plat,
be and the same are hereby vacated and discontinued as public
streets and alleys, subj ect to the following condition, that is
to say:
Such vacat ion is upon condit ion that the said petitioners
shall, before this resolution takes effect, lay out and dedicate

Gentlemen:
We tie unders i fined,as sole owners of Blocks 1,4, 5 ,a.nd 8
of St .John's Wood Addition to St.Paul in Ramsey elountyrMinnes ota,
and a majority of the owners of the property abutting on the lines
of the streets and alleys herein described,as such owners do
respectfully petition your honorable ,body for a resolution va-
cating all the streets and alleys in said Addition adjacent to
said blocks and Jefferson avenue lying south of said Additi on,
the streets desired to be vacated being a portion of Lydia street,
Grace street,Sloan street and all of Jefferson avenue and Montrose
avenue ,designated as Cretin Avenue on the recorded plat of said
Addition.
The facts and reasons for asking this vacation are as fol-
lows : That heretofore all of the streets and alleys in said
blocks, except the above named, have 77een vacated by your
honorable body; the above short streets and small lots prevent-
ing the land from being laid out and used for the purpo{=es for
which the locati on and lay of the land requires ; that ever
since the plaiting of this Addition it has been enclosed by a
fence ; that it is surrounded by unplatted land, except on the
cast side thereof ,as shown by copy of the 'flat hereto attached
and made a part of this petition; and the streets and alleys
sought to be vacated do not lead to any adjacent streets or
alleys , and none of the streets or alleys have been opened,
graded or used by the public . That the owners of the tract of
land in said City of St .Paul lying west of Cretin avenue and
between St.Clair street on the north and where Cleveland avenue

joins the Mississippi River Boulevard on the south and including
this said St. Jc'_ln' s Wood Addition, are desirous of having all
plats of small lots and frequent cross streets intersecting said
Boulevard vacated to enable the land to be laid out in harmony
with a general plan of improvement of this part of the city of
St.Paul, as will appear from the petition of said owners present-
ed to your Honorable Body; and that the public generally and the
owners of the surrounding property will be benefited by such
vacation.
Upon the above facts and reasons we do petiti on for a
resolution of your Honorable Body vacating said above named
streets and alleys in said Addition.
