To the Honorable City Council .
Gentlemen;-
7e, the undersigned, owners of the property on either
side of the alley running through block 6 of Finch' s Addition fro:n
4 Drake street to 4 a�rsaw street between Lee avenue and Armstrong avenue/°
petition your honorable body to vacate the following por--
tion of this alley te-wit; The full width of the alley being; 20 feet
wide beginning at the west line of D^ake street thence easterly a din-
tance of 132 feot. In lieu of this vacation we proposer to dedicate to
the city for alley purposes a strip of land 20 feet wide through the
full length of Lot 21 block 6 Finch' s Addition, the west line of this
lot coinciding with the west line of the alley strip proposed to be and
boated. The above vacation is asked for the following reasons;
The owners occupying the abutting property are carrying on a general
foundry business: making both iron and brass castings. For the proper
protection of the grounds, merchandise, material and buildings it is ab-
solutely necessary to have each piece of property on either side of the
alley fenced in. The nature of the business and the location of build,
ings requires that a free and unobstructed ingress and egress be provi-
ded between the two properties, which cannot be had at the present time
on account of the fences. If these fences are removed the convenience
for carrying on the business will be very much increased. Furthermore
the vacation is asked for the reason that the business is constantly

being enlarge& and it is expected that the vacation if granted: will al-
low for the addition of a new building.
