TO THE HONORABLE , THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL,
The undersigned , your petitioner , represents that, it is
the owner of all the real estate in Blocks six (G ) and seven (7)
and of the land colored red on annexedplat extending from Arch
Street to Pennsylvania Avenue , and your petitioner, or its lessee ,
The Great Northern Railway Compartf , is in the actual occupancy
of said real estate in said iptuaatka blocks adjacent to and abutting
on the parcel colored red in the annerted plat , using the same for
Right of Way and for side tracks and for yards in connection with
the basiness transacted by it or its said lessee. That Jackson
Street has been opened and graded ard° under claim of right by ' the
City , extended across said blocks six and seven from Arch Street
to Pennsylvania Avenue,
That on account of the opening and grading of Fariview Street
leading from the Ci ty of St. Paul and connecting wi th Jackson
Street at the Jackson Street Bridge , and because that portion laid F'
out as Jackson Street by the City , under claim of rift between
Arch Street. and Fairview Street was not legally laid out, your
petitioner bei ng the owner in fee of the lath covered by . s: i d
Street as laid out , and not having consented the veto, and because
no part of said Jackson Street so laid out and opened by the City
between Arch Street and Pennsylvania Avenue , and as shown on the
annexed plat in red color, is needed as a public street or hi griway,
and because it is necessary that your petitioner, or its lessee , tia
Great Northern Railway Company , in the conduct of its business
or The businessofits lessee , shall riake use of that portion dt its
said land colored red on the annexed mar for buildings and exten-
sion of buildings to be constructed upon or across the same,
Your petitioner prays your honorable body that you will cause
such action to be taken as will result in the vacation of that
portion of Jackson Street between Arch Street and Pennsylvania
Avenue as shown in red color on annexed map , and that all claim
to the sane as a public street be abandoned,and as in duty bound
your peti tdaner will ever pray.
