Civil Servic bureau of the City of Saint Paul, approv-
in g rules and regulations therefor,"
approved August 20, 1914, as amended.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 32501, approved August 20,
1914, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by
striking out subdivision (1) of subsection (a) of Section 34 which reads
as follows:
"(1) He must be holding a position in one of the employ-
ments classified in Section 6 or Section 7 of these Rules, or
be eligible to reinstatement thereto, or he must, while on
leave from such employment, be holding an exempt position
in the same line of employment and substantially of the same
character of work as the position from which leave was secured. ",
and substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"(i) If the examination is given--
While he is holding a position in any of the classes
of positions in the Classified Service, or
While he is on layoff from such position, or
During the first six months after he has been
granted a leave of absence from such position, or
While he is on leave from such position and holding
a position in the Unclassified Service in the
same line of employment and substantially
• of the same character of work as the position
from which leave was granted. "
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
thirty days after its passage, approval, and publication.
