An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7607, entitled:
"An ordinance fixing the duties and responsi-
bilities and the minimum qualifications for the various
classes of positions in the Classified Service of the City,"
approved February 13, 1935, as amended:
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 7607, approved February 13,
1935, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking
out the specifications for Stationary Fireman and substituting in lieu thereof
the following:
"Title of class:
STATIONARY FIREMAN
Duties and responsibilities:
Under supervision, to fire high pressure boilers, or low pressure
boilers of at least 300 h. p. ; to tend and maintain auxiliary
equipment; and to perform related work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To operate gas, oil or coal fired boilers.
To operate fuel pumps, condensate return pumps and other boiler
room equipment.
To clean boilers, flues, fire box, ash pits, etc.
To shift operation from gas to oil or coal firing, or the reverse.
At the Como Park greenhouse also:
To regulate and maintain the temperatures necessary in the
various sections of the greenhouses.
To maintain and operate the air-heating system and the ventilating
system in the zoo building.
• Minimum qualifications:
\14 Eighth-grade education and two years' experience in firing boilers,
or four years' experience as a Boiler Room Helper in the City
service. Must possess a second-class license. "
Section 2. That said ordinance, as amended, be and the same is
