LA NASA DEPUTY CITY COMPTROLLER As part of our continuing program of internal audit, m3► staff has just completed ,an analysis of refunds authorized by your honorable body by resolution during the year 1961. This comprises a total of 145 claims and $112283.74 rem, funded. The attached tabulation breaks these down in detail. Of the 145 claims, 114 were for less than $50.00, and 10 were between $50000 and $100.00,. 21 claims exceeded $100;.00, and most of these comprised applications for liquor licenses which were returned after the two avatlablel licenses were issued., There is an ordinance -now in effect (No, 6781 - January 8, 1927)" Winch permits 'tth Corporation Counsel to settle claims against the City in any amount not to,, ed $100.,00. All claims in excess of $100.00 must beT settled =by individual-ordinances. May l suggest that an ordinance simil' 4r to this one just describei might be in order to authorize pk ments up to $50..00 or $100.00 with.apptoval of the proper administrative head. Such as ordinance would rem lieve your honorable .body of much detail in addition to effecting savings on publication costs. This savings in printing costa would be approximately $400.00' depenaing on your determination. I.would like to recommend you refer this matter to the Corporation Counsel for-the proper ordinance if, in his determination, it is legally - permissible. My staff will be available if you or the Corporation Counsel have need of further assistance in this matter; CJS /dn 6/15 /62 d0149 0 25 c Q Yours truly, Jos J. tehe City Comptroller IA In In n O t11 N • n ri 1 _N* I O O • u'1 I T-1 I • N • O 0 O 00 a O 1 O O O =R • u1 O [ O O M • • • • • • r r N M •-1 [ M a 14 r-1 %D to t N N r4 N N ° s r1 `T+I +u1 a Kt V-i O' .-1 00 N e-1 N N 41 0 IA In In n O t11 N • n ri 1 _N* I O O • u'1 I T-1 I • N • O 0 O 00 a O 1 O O O l O l [ n N C''1 M • • bn 1 • j On N M •-1 r1 M a 14 r-1 N u Do %0 r4 W U a ° s [ `T+I +u1 a 0 o O' N 41 0 ' d w o 41 W H !
