An ordinance amending Chapter 14 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code
pertaining to Building Construction. This aunbT ergency ordinance
rendered necessary for the preservation of /p�a�e, ealth, and safety.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1 - That Section 14.02 Sprinkler Equipment is hereby amended
by deleting item 1 of subsection 1 SP;rinklers Required,-which reads as
follows:
1. When adequate heat is not provided and in the opinion of the
Bureau the hazard is not severe, such sprinkler system may be re-
placed by a system having approved automatic sprinklers, but with
supply only from a fire department connection on the building front,
or with an approved protective device with fire department connec-
tion on the building front, by which water can be applied to or
directed at the fire by suitable control equipment from outside the`
building; there being in each case an approved automatic fire alarm
system connected to an outside gong or to the central station of a
supervising company.
and substitute items 1 and m as follows in lieu thereof:
1. All schools hereafter erected in which area or space is provid-
ed for shop facilities as used in connection with courses of instruc-
tion in various shop courses shall be provided with an automatic
sprinkler system as approved by the Bureau of Public Buildings.

Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to an emergency
ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of /pulic peace, health
and dafety.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage and publication.
