rendered necessary for, the preservation of the public peace, health and
safety.
THE COUNCIL OF THE, CITY OF SAINT PAUL, DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 3250, approved August 20, 1914,
as amended, be- and the3 same, is hereby further .amended by striking out of
Section 4 the sentence reading "As a matter of convenience, the classes of
positions in each grade shall be arranged in occupational groups as follows:";
and by substituting in lieu thereof the sentence "The classes of positions in
the Graded Division shall be .arranged in occupational groups. as. follows : ".

Section 2. That said ordinance, as. amended, be and the same is
hereby further, amended by striking out of Section 4 the paragraph headed
"PROFESSIONAL. AND SUBPROFESSIONAL. "; and by substituting in lieu
thereof the following:

"PROFESSSIONAL -- This group is defined to include any position for
whichAhe statement of minimum qualifications in the official specifica-
tion requires the possession of a, degree (no- substitution for education)
from a college or university of recognized standing at the entrance
level in th& occupational series., or which requires State registration
as a professional engineer, architect, etc.
SUBPROFESSIONAL_ This, group is defined to include any position
the duties of which are to perform work which is, incidental or sub-
ordinate to the work required of employees holding positions in the
professional group, or any position for which the statement of mini-
mum qualifications in the official specification. requires training at
a college or' university of recognized standing, but does not require
the possession of -a degree." �r
