An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 6446, entitled: "An administrative ordinance fixing the com- pensation rates of certain city positions and employments," approved January 23, 1925, as amended. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN: I Section 1. That said' ;Prdinance No. 64+6 approved January 23, 1925, �* hereby further amended by striking out of Section VI C the following words: "and in the event the average maximum salary in such communities is higher or lower than the maximum salary for Patrolman in the City of Saint Paul" and substitute in lieu thereof the following: "and in the event the maximum salary in such communities is lower than the existent maximum salary for Patrolman in the City of Saint Paul, salaries shall not be reduced but adjustments shall be made by granting only 50 per cent of the increase due in any future annual survey until such time as the City rates no longer exceed the survey rates. The annual gain in the survey rates shall each year be added to the survey rates. ! In the event the maximum salary in any community is higher than the maximum salary for Patrolman in the City of Saint Paul," Section 3. Occupational Wage Survey for Minneapolis - St. Paul, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States Department of Labor, st�ht -time ourly earn�Ji�ng s, 2 The per cent of increase or decrease of the occurring from January 1 of the then current year to January 1 of the preceding year, of "unskilled plant" workers for all industries as shown in Table 2 in the Occupational Wage Survey for Minneapolis - St. Paul, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States Department of Labor, 3 The average per cent of increase or decrease of the average salaries of Accountants, Chemists, and Engineers occurring during the pre- ceding twelve-month period as shown in the latest available issue, as of January 1 of the then current year, of the National Survey of Professional, Administrative, Technical and Clerical Pay, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States Department of Labor. 4 The average of the percentages of change obtained in accordance with 1 and 2 above. The Civil Service Bureau shall submit a report of its findings to the Council and shall also file for public record a copy with the City Clerk, Thereafter the Council shall set a public hearing for the purpose of considering a revision of salaries, which hearing shall be not less than ten days after such public notice as the Council may deem necessary. After such hearing the Council shall, by resolution, indicate the per cent of change (a) in the City's salary rates for positions in the clerical occupational group and in the attendance and inspectional occupational group, using the information obtained in accordance with 1 above, and such per cent of change shall be applied uniformly to all positions in such group, (b) in the City's salary rates for positions in the manual and Maintenance occupational group, using the information obtained in accordance with 2 above, and such per cent of change shall be applied uniformly to all positions. in such groups, (c) in the City's salary rates for positions in the professional occupational group and in the subprofessional occupational group, using the informa- tion obtained in accordance with 3 above, and such per cent of change shall be applied uniformly to all positions in such groups, -2- w � r 2 ,643 I (d) in the City's salary rates for positions in the police occupational group and in the fire occupational group, using the information obtained in accordance with 4 above, and such per cent of change shall be applied uniformly to all positions in such groups; provided, however, that if the per cent of change indicated by the Council for any group deviates from the per cent of change reported in accordance with 1, 2, 3 and 4 above, the per cent of deviation from the reported percentages shall be uniform for all groups.'
