An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7607, entitled:
"An ordinance fixing the duties and responsibilities
and the ,minimum qualifications for the various classes of
positions in the Classified Service of the City,"
approved February 13, 1935, as amended.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No: 7607, approved February 13, 1935,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by inserting in
their proper alphabetical order the following titles and specifications:

Duties and responsibilities:
Under supervision, to repair and recondition all leather, rubber,
and other fabric equipment in the. Fire Department; and to
perform related work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To maintain, repair, design, and make leather or canvas straps
and belts, etc.
To repair boots, raincoats and helmets, straps and belts, etc.
To repair fire hose and to attach couplings.
To repair and maintain waterproof coverings.
To operate sewing machines,
To repair tires and act as Car and Truck Greaser when needed.
Minimum qualifications:
Two years' experience in the maintenance of equipment in the
Public Safety Department.

Duties and responsibilities:
Under direction, to assist the Supervisor of Ground Maintenance- -
Parks and Recreation in the administration of the city forestry
program, ground maintenance, and landscaping; and to perform
related work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To plan work schedules for tree trimming crews.
To make inspections for diseased and insect - infested trees.
To plan tree spraying schedules.
To direct park foremen and crews in pruning, trimming, spraying,
and cavity treatment of trees.
To direct and instruct park foremen and crews in planting,
transplanting, cabling, bracing, felling and removing trees.
To direct and instruct hark foremen and crews in the common
practices of tree care, treatment of diseases and surgery.
To investigate special complaints regarding trees needing
spraying or removal.
To answer emergency calls for the removal of fallen or damaged
trees and limbs resulting from storms or accidents.
To prescribe special formulae for insecticides and fertilizers.
To plan the purchase and maintenance of the forestry equipment
and supplies.
To prepare and administer the annual forestry budget and recom-
mend personnel assignments.
To prepare records and reports as required.
To enforce all ordinances relating to trees.
To advise and assist the Supervisor of Ground Maintenance on
special turf management problems.
To assist in supervising golf course maintenance.
To assist in supervising cleanup work in Parks and on Playgrounds.

Minimum qualifications:
College graduation in forestry or related field, and four years'
professional experience as a city arborist, or equivalent.

Duties and responsibilities:
Under direction, to be responsible for a specific health project
such as Information and Referral Service, Nursing and
Boarding Home Supervision, dome Safety and Accident Pre-
vention; and to perform related work as assigned.

Under direction, to supervise the dental hygiene program in the
Bureau of Health and in the Saint Paul Schools; and to perform
related work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To assign and supervise the work of dental hygienists.
To instruct new staff members in policy and procedures and in
the dental program.
To discuss special cases and problems with hygienists and dentists.
To plan and recommend improvements in the dental program.
To complete reports and handle correspondence.
To consult with supervisors, dentists, school principals and
other agencies.
To order supplies for schools and clinics.
Minimum qualifications:

in the Bureau of Assessments and in the Bureau of Receipts and
Disbursements in the Department of Finance; and to perform re-

To review, revise, and supervise the proper procedures in the
Department of Finance's handling of local improvements,
zoning petitions, and related matters.
To prepare reports and correspondence and resolutions regarding
assessments.
To supervise, direct and lay out the work for the clerical staff
of the Bureau of Assessments and of the Bureau of Receipts
and Disbursements.
To superintend the spreading of assessments and all related work.
To furnish reports as required.
Minimum qualifications:
High school graduation and three years' experience as a Valuation

Duties and responsibilities:
