An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3250, entitled:
"An administrative ordinance relating to the Civil
Service Bureau of the City of Saint Paul, approving and adopting
rules and regulations therefor,"
approved August 20, 1914, as amended.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT ' PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 3250; approved August 20, 1914,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking out
Division 6 of Subsection F of Section 35, and by substituting in lieu thereof
the following:
116 If an employee is absent because of illness for a period of less than
eight calendar days he shall submit to his appointing officer a
certificate signed by the employee stating the nature of his illness.
If such illness continues for a period beyond seven calendar days,
no further sick leave shall be granted unl6ss and until the employee
consults a doctor. If the employee consults a doctor, the sick leave
may be continued from and including the day of such consultation
providing a certificate signed by such doctor certifying to the nature
and period of the employees illness or disability is approved by the
appointing officer and the Medical Examiner in the Civil Service
Bureau. - Sick leave shall in no case be granted for any time after
the seventh day through the day preceding consultation with a doctor.
The appointing officer or the Commissioner may require such a doctorts
certificate or additional certificates at any time during an employees
illness. All such certificates shall be forwarded by the appointing
officer to the Medical Examiner in the Civil Service Bureau.
Certificate forms shall be furnished by the Civil Service Bureau. 11
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty
days after its passage, approval, and publication. f
