That Ordinance No. 7607, approved February 13, 1935, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by inserting in their proper alphabetical order the following titles and specifications for Engineer of Maintenance Services Local Improvement Engineer -1- Title of class: ENGINEER OF MAINTENANCE SERVICES Duties and responsibilities: 230R16 (� 4� 6 Under direction, to be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of all streets, alleys, and sewers; to be responsible for the operation of the municipal equipment and sanitation activities; and to perform related work as assigned. Examples of work performed: To be in charge of the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of paved and unpaved streets and alleys including snow plowing, sanding and salting, and snow removal. To be in charge of the maintenance, repair and cleaning of sanitary, storm: interceptor and combination sewers, To be in charge of the reconstruction and oiling of unpaved streets. To be in charge of the activities of the paving plant, the oil plant, and the Public Works garage. To be in charge of refuse collection and disposal, and dumps and landfills. To make estimates of costs. To order supplies and material. To supervise construction when done by city forces. Minimum qualifications: College graduation and ten years' professional engineering experience, at least two years of which must have been as Public Works Maintenance Engineer or equivalent. Must be a registered professional engineer in the State of Minnesota. (No substitution for education. ) -2- Title of class: LOCAL IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER Duties and responsibilities: 2" .� o I 3 4o Under direction,• to be responsible for the planning and design of all local improvements; to perform professional work in connection with the preparation, review, and acceptance of all plats, proceed- ings, and ordinances in connection with street openings, utility easements, slope easements, and the acquisition of new right -of -ways necessary for future street and alley construction; and to perform related work as assigned. Examples of work performed: To supervise the preparation of designs, plans, specifications, and estimates of costs of grading streets and alleys, sidewalks and curbs. To supervise the preparation of slope plans and of grading easements in slopes, cuts, and fills. To make studies and investigations concerning new projects concerning new improvements. To represent the Chief Engineer or his assistant in matters before the City Council. _ To draft and coordinate the drafting of reports or recommendations for Public Works matters for the City Council. To serve as the City's representative on the Ramsey County Plea Commission. To draft permit ordinances for grading by private parties. To supervise dedications of streets and alley proceedings and to advise the Chief Engineer as to the advisability of vacation matters that are before the City Council. To supervise the inspection of all public sidewalk construction. To supervise the licensing of all cement and bituminous contractors' operating within the City limits of the City of St. Paul.
