An ordinance granting to the Freeman Realty Co. 259 E. 7th. St.,
permission to construct a fire-escape over the alley on the building
on W� of Lots 4 � 5 & Ely. 25� Lots 6 & 7, Blk, 3, Whitney' & Smith�s
Addition.
The Council of the City of St. Paul Does Ordain:
, SECTION 1
That permission and authority are hereby granted to the Freeman
Realty Co, to construct and maintain a fire-escape on the building
on W� of Lots 4 & 5 & Fsly. 25� Lots 6 & 7, Blk. 3, 47hitney & Smith� s
Addition, overhanging the alley in said block.
SEGTION 2
� The Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to issue a
permit to the said licensee for the construction of said fire-escape,
• upon its compliance with the following conditions:
(1) The said licensee �shall file with the Commissioner of Public
Works and the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Fublic Buildings
a plan or specification of said fire•escape, which shall be subject
to the approval of said Commissioners. .
� ' (2) The said fire�escape shall be constructed in accordance with "
the building regulations of said City, and under the supervision and
direction of the Commissioner of Public Works, and said licensee shall
! pay the cost of inspection, if any. The said fire»escape shall be
+ removed whenever the Coune,il shall so order.
� (3) The said licensee shall furnish� a bond to the City of St.
, �aul, in the sum of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), conditioned
to save the City of St. Paul harmless f�am,�any and all liability,
judgment, suits, costs, charges,�damages and expense that may accrue
to persons or property on account of or arisfng froar the construction,
maintenance, use, presence or removal of said fire•escape, the said
bond� to remain� in force and effect as long as said fireMescape remain�s
or exists. The said bond shall be in such form as may be approved by
the Corporation Counsel, and shall have such surety as may be approved
by the Ma.yor and shall be filed with the Comptroller of said City.
(4) Said licensee shall, within ten days after the passage of this
ordinance, file a written acceptance thereof with the City Clerk in such
� form as may be approved by the Corporation Counsel.
' SECTION 3
This ord n nc�j� shall take effect and be in force thirty days after
its passagq�a�pua67ication. '
