- Section 2. That said ordinance, as amended, be and the same is
hereby further amended by striki.ng out all of subsection C of Section I;
and by substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"C ENTRANCE SA.LARY--
Except as provided in Section 8 of the Civil Service Rules, and
except as the Council may otherwise provide hereinafter, the ,
salary rate which shall be paid to any appointee i.n a position i.n �
the Classified Service in a class established in Section 6 of the
Rules shall be Step A in the Standard Range applicable to the
position. "
. . Section 3. That said ordinance, as amended, be and the same is
hereby further amended by striki.ng out all of subsection D of Section I;
and by substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"D ADVANCEMENT IN SALARY--
1 Except as provided in Section 8 A of the Civil Service Rules, and
except as hereinafter provided, increases in salary above Step A
in the Graded Division and in the Exempt Service may be granted
to regu.lar and provisional employees as follows:
� (a� -For each 1040 hours an employee has appeared on the payroll
in one position, he may be granted an increase in salary of
one salary step up to and including Step C.
(b) For each 2080 hours an employee has appeared on the payroll
in one position after he has attained Step C he may be granted
an increase in salary of one step up to and including Step E;
except, however, if said employee has received a five-year
increase he may be granted an i.ncrease in salary of one step �
up to and including Step F, and if he has received a ten-year
in.crease he may be granted the ten-year step, and if he has
received a fi.fteen-year increase he may be granted the
fi.fteen-year step.
(c} When an employee completes five years of full-time service
he may be granted an increase of one additional salary step;
provided, h.owever, that his salary shall not exceed Step F.
(d) When an employee completes ten years of full-time service he
may be granted an increase of one additional salary step; pro-
vided, however, that his salary shall not exceed the ten-year step. '
(e) When an employee completes fifteen years of full-time service
he may be granted �.n increase of one additional salary step.

'�2 Any increase i.n salary granted under the provisions of this Section
shall become effective on the first day of the first payroll period
immediately following the granting of such ancrease.
3 On December 28, 1968, after earned step i.ncreases have been
applied, and before increases granted by Council Resolution in
accordance with Section VI of this ordi.nance are applied, each
. employee shall be covered under Sections I A and I B of this
• Ordinance, aam� the new plan,effective on December 28, 1968, at the
step where he would have been had he been in said new pay plan
since his exnployment in his present position; except, however,
that no employee shall receive less than his present salary in
which case said employee shall be paid at the step in the new plan
next higher than his salary in the old plan. Any employee who has
completed ten years of full-time service shall receive either the
ten-year step or an additional step for the ten years if he is below
the five-year step in the pay plan; p�tovided, however, that no '
employee with less than fifteen years shall receive the fifteen-
year step. ,
