That Ordinance No. 6446, approved January 23, 1925, � as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking out of Section ZI, in the last paragraph in each of Groups A, B, and G, the word "gross"; and by substituti.ng in lieu thereof the words "total hourly wa.ge". Section 2. B At least once each year and more frequently if so directed by �� resolution of the City Council, the Civil Service Commissioner shall cause to be reviewed or surveyed contracts in industry ° pertaining to the same or similar types or classes of employment as those defined under the Ungraded Division in Section 3A of ' Ordinance No. �3250 and ascertain the salary rate effective or to be effective in industry for the ensuing annua.l contract year or shorter contractual wage period, if such be recognized in industry . � under existent contracts, next following the date of such survey � and report thereon to the City Counci.l. Such surveys shall be conducted by the Civi.l Service Bureau within the two-month period prior to the recognized annual anniversary date of such contracts in industry; or if the established wage period in industry is for a shorter term, the Civil Service Bureau shall initiate such surveys during the two-month period prior to the expiration of such recog- nized wage period under existent contracts in industry. The Civil Service Bureau shall submit a report of its findings to the Council and shall also file for public record a copy with the City Clerk. Thereafter,, the Council shall set a public hearing for the purpose of � • reviewing existent wa.ge rates, which hearing shall be not less than ten ` days nor more than twenty days after such public notice as the Council . i may deem necessary.
