'�An administrative ordinance relating to the Civil
Service Bureau of the City of Saint Paul, approving and adopting
rules and regulations therefor, �'
approved August 20, 1914, as amended.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 3250, approved August 20, 1914,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking out
all of Division 7 of Section 8 A, and by substituting i.n lieu thereof the
following:

8 A "7 If any person holdi.ng a position in Section 6 of the Rules is
promoted to a position in a higher grade and the mi.nimum
rate for the position in the higher grade is at least three per cent
higher, than his present salary, he shall be paid the minimum
rate, and he may be paid one additional step if he has already
received a five-year increase, or two additional steps if he has
already received a ten-year increase, or three additional steps
if he has already received a fifteen-year increase.
If any person holding a position in Section 6 of the Rules is
promoted to a position in a higher grade and his present salary
is less than three per cent less than the minimum or is the same
or more than the minimum rate for the higher grade, he shall be
paid at the next salary step which is at least three per cent
higher than his present rate, and he may be paid one additional
step if he has already received a five-year increase, or two
additional steps if he has already received a ten-year increase,
or three additional steps if he has already received a fifteen-
year increase; provided, however, that no employee shall re-
ceive a rate of compensation greater than the fifteen-year step
in the Standard Range applicable to his position. "
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty
days after its passage, approval, and publication.
