An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3250, entitled:
"An adxninistrative ordinance relating to the Civil Service
Commission and the Civil Service Office of the City of Saint Paul
approving and adopting rules and regulations necessary to the
administration of the City personnel system on a merit basis, "
approved August 20, 1914, as amended.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIlV:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 3250, approved August 20, 1914,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking out of
Section 32, "Discharge and Reduction", the present Subsection A 1, and
inserting in lieu thereof the following new Subsection A 1:
''The Civil Service Commission shall act as the hearings BQard
in cases of reduction and discharge of employees in the Classi-
fied service. If any member of the Commission, after having
been notified of a hearing date, is unable to attend said hearing,
he shall notify the Mayor, who shall within 5 days, nomi.nate an
alternate member, subject to the approtra.l of the Council, to sit
on such hearing Board with the same powers as the regular � �
members of the Civil Service Commission. No person shall
serve as a member of the Board at any time while holding any
public office; or while standing as a candidate for any public
office, Notary Public excepted; or while holding public employ-
ment; or while serving as a paid officer or employee of any
political party or any employee organization. The Director of ,
Personnel shall act as Secretary to the Commission. "

Section 2. That said ordinance, as amended, be and the same
is hereby further amended by striking out of Section 32 A 6,the words,
"President or" where they appear in the first line thereof.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty
days after its passage, approval, and publication.
