An ordinance amending Ordinance No.
6446, entitled: "An administrative ordi-
nance fixing the compensation rate of
: Legislative Aides," approved January 23,
1925, as amended.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1.
That Ordinance No. 6446, approved January 23, 1925, as
amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by adding
immediately following Section V, the following section to be
designated Section VI: r
"Section VI - SALARY FORMULA AND FRINGE BENEFITS - CERTAIN
UNCLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES
A. Sa],ar�
Effective December 31, 1976, all unclassified employees
working under the title of Legislative Aide shall have
their salaries adjusted as follows:
"Their salary shall be increased or decreased by the
percentage equal to 80$ of the increase in the July-
to-July cost of living index for Urban Wage Earners
�, and Clerical Workers in the St. Paul-Minneapolis
Metropolitan Area (1967 = 100) as published by the
U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Such adjustments shall become effective annually
on the first day of the first payroll period after
the December 25th next following the publication
of the July-to-July change in the cost of living
index. However, if this formula produces any
increase in Legislative Aide salaries which would
cause such salaries to exceed 9Og of the salaries
applicable to the members of the City Council,
such increases shall be limited to that amount
which brings the Legislative Aide salaries to 900
of the Council Members ' salaries.
B. Vacation
Employees employed in the title listed in A above
shall be covered by the vacation schedule as
follows:
Years of Service Vacation Days
Less than 8 years 15 days
After 8 years through 15 years 20 days �
After 15 years and thereafter 25 days
C. Insurance
l. For employees employed in title listed in A
above, the City agrees to contribute the cost
for $5,000 of Life Insurance Coverage for each
employee who is eligible for such coverage, or
$3. 05 per month, whichever amount is less.
This contribution shall be paid to the City' s
Group Health and Welfare Plan. Any increase
in this cost shall be paid by the employee.
2. In addition to the $5,000 Life Insurance Cover-
age in 1 above, the City agrees to contribute
the cost of additional Life Insurance Coverage
or $. 97 per thousand dollars of coverage per
month, whichever amount is less. The total
amount of Life Insurance Coverage provided
under this section and Section l above, for

each employee shall be equal to the
employee' s annual salary to the nearest
full thousand dollars. For the purpose
of this section, the employee' s annual
salary shall be based on the salary as
of the beginning of a contract period.
This contribution shall be paid to the
City' s Group Health and Welfare Plan. "
Section 2.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty
(30) days after its passage, approval, and publication.
