Supervision Received: Works under the general guidance and direction of the Engineering Division head. Supervision Exercised: Exercises general technical and administrative supervision over subordinate supervisors, engineers and technical support staff within the bureau. TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED The list of examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in this class. Plans, implements and directs the activities of the Sewer Engineering Bureau. Determines short and long range plans for the Sewer Engineering Bureau activities within Engineering Division guidelines. Directs the design and the preparation of detailed plans, specifications and contractual agreements for sewer projects and directs the main- tenance of associated project records. Recommends an annual bureau budget based on scheduled projects and anticipated staffing requirements. Coordinates projects with other departmental bureaus. Consults with County, State, Metropolitan and Federal governmental officials, including the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the Metropolitan Waste Water Commission, and veith representatives of utility companies and with other City Engineers on sewer projects. Represents the bureau before citizen organizations and other groups. Acts as a consultant to other bureaus on sev�er and other hydraulic prob- lems. Evaluates inspection reports of sewer facilities and projects. Prepares reports of bureau activities as required. Supervises and evaluates bureau staff. Performs related duties as assigned or required. � KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Working l;nowledge of current principles and theories of civil engineering as applied to sewer projects. Working knowledge of the methods, procedures and techniques of civil engineering and mathematics as applied to sewer projects. Considerable ability to plan, direct and evaluate the work of professional and technical employees. (continued) - 2 - � ������ - SEW ER ENGINEER (continued) Marked ability to deal effectively with City employees, other govern- mental agencies, private companies and the general public and to effectively make oral presentations. Marked ability to prepare reports and recommendations and to review report$. Marked ability to plan and execute project management techniques necessary to implement sewer projects on schedule. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION5 College graduation in civil engineering and eight years' professional engineering experience, at least three years of which must have been as a Civil Engineer III or equivalent. Must be registered as a pro- fessional engineer in the State of Minnesota.
