5 THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:

10 That Section 407.04 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

12 "Sec. 407.04. Licensing requirements.

14 (a) Application. In addition to all other required information,the application shall set forth the
15 name,the place of residence of the applicant,the exact location at which the applicant proposes
16 to carry on said business, and shall further state whether or not he is then or has previously been
17 engaged in such business. Said application shall be signed by the applicant in person.

19 (b) Hearing�ee�ee;renewal.
20 ' ,
21 . Every person, firm or corporation conducting or operating a hotel
22 shall make application for renewal of license at least thirty (30) days before expiration thereof.

24 (c) Inspection, reports, etc. The inspector shall refer a copy of the application to the director of the
25 division of public health, director of the department of police and the director of the department
26 of fire and safety services, and require from said directors, respectively, a report as to whether or
27 not the proposed place of business named in said application,together with the appliances and
28 equipment used or to be used therein in the conduct of said business, are sanitary and in all
29 manner comply with the rules of the division of public health as to sanitary conditions and
30 surroundings; a report as to the character of the applicant, and as to whether or not the person
31 applying for such license has ever operated or conducted a similar business previously, or been
32 connected with one, and as to whether or not said applicant has ever been arrested and charged
33 with conducting a disorderly house or with having sold intoxicating liquors illegally; and a
34 report as to whether or not the premises in which it is proposed to conduct said business are safe
35 and provided with all the necessary means for the prevention of fire and for the safety of
36 persons who may be in said premises by reason of the conduct of said business."

3 This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days following its passage, approval, and
4 publication.
