An ordinance amending Chapters 62
and 63 of the Saint Paul Legislative
Code, pertaining to Zoning Regulations .
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1.
That Chapter 62 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code, pertaining
to �oning Regulations, be and hereby is amend�d so as to add the
following section thereto:
"62.117. Radio and Television Antennas.
Radio and television antennas are permitted as an
accessory use in all zoning districts and shall
meet the following requirements:
(1) Radio and television antennas shall not
be erected in any required yard, except a rear
yard, and shall be set back a minimum of three
feet from all lot lines.
(2) Guy wires or guy wire anchors shall be
set back a minimum of one foot from all lot lines."
Section 2.
That Section 63.103 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code,
pertaining to the Zoning Code and General Exceptions, is hereby
amended to read as follows:

of this code shall not apply to farm buildings,
chimneys, church spires, flag poles, public monuments

any such structure when such structure requires
authorization as use subject to special conditions."
Section 3.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30)
days from and after its passage, approval and publication.

Dear Council Members:
On June 26, 1981 , following a public hearing, the Planning Commission
unanimously recommended approval� of text chanqes to the Zoning
Ordinance pertaining to radio and television antennas.
On October 15, 1981 , the City Council Development Committee considered
the amendments. Two amateur radio operators testified at the meeting
that the proposed height limit of 55' for radio and television antennas
was too restrictive. The Development Committee referred the amendments
back to the Planning Commission for reconsideration.
On December 18, 1981 , the Planning Commission recorranended that the height
limit be removed from the ordinance amendments but that the other amend-
ments dealing with radio and television antennas be adopted as appro�ed
earlier.
I am transmitting these revised text amendmer�ts at the request of the
Planning Commission with my recommendation for your review and approval .
