brought this issuel to the attention of the City Council.

Modelled after Minnesota's "Good Samaritan" statute, this ordinance should increase
people�s awarenesslabout responding to a police officer's need for assistance� in an
emergency. It should provide for increased public safetq in general and specifically
increased safety for police officers in Saint Paul.

RE: Assistance to Police Officers
Enclosed is a signed final draft of the ordinance requiring
assistance to police officers in emergency situations.
The ordinance, as you know, is modeled after the state good
samaritan statute and applies only at the scene of an emergency
which is defined in the ordinance. It provides for a petty
misdemeanor penalty, and makes violations also grounds for adverse
action against a license.
