ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER.
WHEREAS, in early 1991, The Saint Paul Foundation agreed to
initiate a community-wide process to develop and conduct a
celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Naming of Saint
Paul, and
WHEREAS, this six-week long Celebration hopes to (1) educate
the community regarding its origins, (2) involve the
community in a gender-sensitive, culturally diverse process
that ties its sense of the future with its past and instills
a sense of civic pride, (3) leave one or more lasting
memorials for the city which will endure and be used by the
community, and (4) encourage others to plan and implement
• additional events and activities as part of this Celebration,
and
WHEREAS, the cost of this Celebration is estimated to be
$300,000, and
WHEREAS, it has been requested that the City of Saint Paul
provide a $15,000 grant to help finance the Celebration, so
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED, that the proper City Officials are
authorized to provide a $15, 000 grant to The Saint Paul
Foundation to help finance the 150th Anniversary Celebration
of the Naming of Saint Paul.

The Saint Paul Foundation agreed to initiate a community-wide process to develop and conduct
a Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Naming of Saint PauT. This six-week
long Celebration will cost approximately $300,000. It has been requested that the City
of Saint Paul provide a $15,000 grant to help finance the Celebration.

The grant will help provide a unique opportunity to bring together the different sectors
of the community to plan and implement a Celebration which will encompass the multitude
of cultures and nationalities that have helped shape the City of Saint Paul over the
past 150 years.
