1 WI-IEREAS, since 1980, the Saint Paul Housing Information Office has served as a H[JD-certified housing agency
2 for St. Paul residents of all incomes; and
3 WHEREAS, in 1997, Saint Paul Housing Information Office responded to 6500 requests for rental housing
4 information, 1541 requests for tenant/landiord rights, and 194 requests for emergency shelter placement and
5 WHEREAS, Saint Paul Housing Information Office recognizes that face-to-face case management could better
b assist Saint Paul residents living in emergency shelters secure permanent housing; and
7 WHEREAS, Saint Paui Housing Information Office's comprehensive housing counseling services includes tenant
& training; and
9 WI-IEREAS, Saint Paul Housing Information Office also works with Housing Link under the Hollman decree to
10 develop a computerized weekly list of affordable rental opportunities; and
11 BE IT RESOLVED, that Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Saint Paul Housing Information Office
12 to submit a supportive housing service grant request to HUD for the purposes of developing weekly lists of
13 affordable rental housing and on-site tenant training for Saint Paul residents living in emergency shelters or
14 transitional housing units.
15 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Mayor's Administration
16 to execute the necessary grant agreements if IIUD awazds a housing counseling granC to the Saint Paul Housing
17 Informarion Office.
