1 Whereas Minnesota's Truth-In-Taxation law requires that the legislature policy kers of all units
2 of govemment levying property taxes adopt a proposed tax levy by Septembe�of each year, with
3 said levies being used to calculate parcel specific tax change notices for the b dgets being proposed
4 for the following fiscal year, and '

6 Whereas the Truth-In-Taxation proposed levy becomes the maximum prv�erty tax levy which can be
7 used or lowered for the final budgets which must be adopted by no la�r than December 21 of each
8 year, and

10 Whereas the City of Saint Paul's current budget cal dar, as auth nzed under Charter Section 10.02
11 and specified under Section 56.02 of the Administra ' Code h�he Mayor submitting a proposed
12 budget to the City Council by August 15 of eac ��' and �

18 Now Therefore Be It Resolved, that�l�e ity Budge irector and Mayor are requested to prepare
19 and submit an ordinance to mak n�essary amen ents to Section 56 of the Administrative Code
20 to require that the Mayor pre e proposed Ci budget to the City Council by no later than 60
21 days before the date the Minne a Legislature ets as a deadline for determining the Truth-In-
22 Taxation proposed levy, and�to make Section gender neutral.
