An ordinance amending section 45. 03 subdivision 10 of
the Saint Paul Legislative Code relating to
nuisances.
The Council of the City of Saint Paul Does Ordain:
Section 1
That section 45. 03 subdivision 10 of the Saint Paul
Legislative Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 45.03. Nuisances.
Subd. lO.Sanitary structures. Structures for sanitation such
as privies, vaults, sewers, private drains, septic tanks,
cesspools, drain fields which have failed or do not function
properly or which are overflowing, leaking, or emanating
odors. Septic tanks, cesspools, or cisterns which are
abandoned or no longer in use unless they are emptied and
filled with clean fill. ,

This is one of a package of comprehensive plan and ordinance ame�dments to implement the
Highwood Development Policies. Also part of the package is an individual sewage treatment
system ordinance for the city, which mQr.e. comp�et�ly:'l.�ys o.i�.t _th-� c�iteraa�for �he �@�'si�,
installation, use and maintenance of septic tanks.
ADVANTAOES IF APPROVED:
This will eliminate an inconsistency between Chapter 45 and the �roposed septic tank
ordinance. The proposed septic tank ordinance is much more thorouqh in its regulation
of septic tanks.
