WHEREAS, The Minnesota Department of Natural Re ources is
caordinating the U. .S. Small Business Administratiq�,',s tree planting
program; and : �
WHEREAS, This program is a community tree planting grant program for
the purpose of contracting with small business to pla t trees on public
land; and
WHEREAS, Applicants must be a local unit of gove nment have an
eligible tree planting project, and contribute 50% of the total cost; and

WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul meets these crit�ria; now therefore
be it �
RESOLVED, That the City of Saint Paul apply for � community tree
planting grant in the amount of $5,000; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Division of Parks and Recreation is hereby
authorized to accept a grant for this program.

Trees will be planted at approximately 50 selected spaces on City boulevards. The
trees will be 2 to 2.5 inches balled and burlapped stock. (See attached example
of contract specificiations.)
