1 WHEREAS, in Council File 97-1568, the Council of the City of Saint Paul adopted an
2 interun ordinance preserving the status quo with respect to advertising signs in the City of Saint
3 Paul pending the completion of action on applications for the adoption of special district sign
4 plans under Saint Paul Legisiative Code § 66.216; and
6 WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul, under a separate ordinance, has
7 amended certain portions of Council File 97-1568 for the purpose of confirming and clarifying
8 the original intent of the Council embodied in Councii File 97-1568; and
9
10 WHEREAS, the amended portions of Council File 97-1568, as stated in that sepazate
11 ordinance, zeflect the original intent of the Councii; and

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul desires to give the prohibitions set
forth in Section II of Council File 97-1568, as confirmed and clarified under that sepazate
ordinance stating its intent to do the same, immediate effect as originally intended; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED, that under separate ordinance, the Council of the City of Saint Paul
will direct that no permit or Iicense for the establishxnent of a new advertising sign or the
modification of an existing advertising sign shall be issued or approved by the City, its officers,
employees, agents or commissions until that application for a Special District Sign Plan has been
adopted or rejected by the Council and that the prohibitions contained in Section II of Council
File 97-1568 shall be enforced in a manner consistent with the amendments and intent of the
Council as stated in that sepazate amending ordinance.; t1NB

2 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that pending the passage, approval and publication of
3 that separate ordinance amending Council File 97-1568, no permit or license for the
4 establishment of a new advertising sign or the modification of an e�stivg advertising sign shall

6 application for a Special District Sign Plan has been adopted or rejected by the Council and that
