98-356Council File # � c� - 35 � RESOLUTION NT PAUL, MINNESOTA Presented Refesed To Green Sheet # Ob' S Committee Date 1 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has received increased complaints regazding dogs that are unlicensed, roaming 2 at lazge, and are involved in dog fights and attacks on citizens of Saint Paui; and 3 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Animal Control Department is chazged with the enforcement of city ordinances 4 regazding ownership, licensing, anti-rabies vaccination, proper restraint and proper care of dogs; and 5 WHEREAS, the increased number of complaints in relation to these issues have predominantly come from the 6 Frogtown azea of Saint Paul; and 7 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Animal Control Department, the Ramsey County Humane Society, the City of 8 Saint Paul Police Department, the Thomas-Dale Block Clubs and Councilmember Jerry Blakey have met to develop 9 a strategy to enforce the City of Saint Paul city ordinances; and 10 WHEREAS, the strategy is to target specific problems areas with increased enforcement with "dog sweeps" in 11 Frogtown; and 12 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul City Council recognizes that there may be a minimal budgetary adjustment 13 necessary to provide this increased enforcement; now therefore be it 14 RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul City Council requests that the Mayor's Administration authorize the 15 necessary budgetary adjustment and direct the City of Saint Paul Animal Control Department and the City of Saint 16 Paul Police Department in coordination with Ramsey County Humane Society and the Thomas-Dale Block Clubs 17 to conduct the "dog sweeps" in May, 1998; and be it 1 F[JRTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul Animal Control Department come to the City of Saint Paul Ciry 2 Council meeting on June 10, 1998 to report on the effectiveness of the "dog sweeps". 9� - 3S� Requested by Deparhnent of: � Form Approved by City Attorney � Adopuon fied by Council Secretary Approved by Mayor for Submission to Council B �l� a �..� ..
