98-298Council File # `� S — a `�C� Green Sheet # �D b S�(� RESOL:UTION CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA Presented Referred To Committee Date 1 WHEREAS, Louis Patrick Cotroneo was born an East Sider and remains and an East Sider to this day, and, 2 WHEREAS, Louie has committed his life to serving the public including: his stint in the Army, 24 years as a 3 teacher, adnunistrator and "Attendance SpecialisY' with the school district, his 20 years as a coach at Johnson High 4 School, two years as a Commission Member for the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission, four yeazs as 5 I.egislative Aide to Councilmember Chris Nicosia, and 12 yeazs as Community Liaison for Saint Paul Public Works, 6 and, 7 WHEREAS, Louie exemplifies the character of the East Side through his selfless acts: one of the most recent which 8 includes his many weeks of assistance to the July 1, 1997 Hoyt Avenue flood victims. Giving comfort to those who 9 lost many of their material possessions and even, as noted by one of the victims, "rolling up the pant legs on one 10 of his very nice suits, and wading through the mud to help us clean up." 11 WHEREAS, Louie has voluntarily served as Saint PauPs goodwill ambassador to the NHL and has been a tireless 12 supporter of Saint Paul's efforts to bring professional hockey back to Minnesota, now, 13 THEREFORE BE TI' RESOLVED, that Apri121, 1998 shall forever be known as 14 15 in Saint Paul, and, Louie Cotroneo Day 16 BE TT FUR'TI-IER RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council OFFTCIALLY appoints and proclaims Louie 17 Cotroneo as Saint PauPs honarary Ambassador to the National Hockey League.
