98-263Councii Fyle # °►g _ a � 3 ORiGINAL Presented Referred To RESOLUTION CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA Green Sheet # �'�ov 1 � �� Comuuttee Date 1 WHEREAS, the Phalen Corridor Iniriative is a community partnership working to rebuild the economic, social, and 2 physical prosperity of Saint Paul's East Side; and 3 WHEREAS, the Phalen Corridor IniriaUve's fust step is the transformation of the underutilized industrial corridor 4 from the I-35E and I-94 junction to Latce Phalen; and 5 WHEREAS, the Pfialen Corridor Initiative is working towards turning 100 acres of polluted lands into desirable 6 industrial business sites, creating up to 2000 new jobs, retaining 4000 existing jobs, improving transit; and 7 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is a dedicated parhier in this project through public investment, staff investment 8 from Planning and Economic Development, Public Works, the Mayor's office, and the City Council, we aze putting 9 on paper what our actions loudly speak towards; and now 10 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby strongly endorse the Phalen Corridor 11 Initiative and its efforts to achieve the aforementioned goals.
