98-217Council File # 9�"a/ 7 ORIG1NAl RESOLUTION CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA Presented Referred To 1 WI�REAS, Alana Blahoski's hometown is Saint Paul, Minnesota; and, Committee Date 2 WHEREAS, Alana is a 1992 graduate of Johnson High School where she was named to the all-conference, all- 3 metro, and all-state teams in softball; and, 4 Wf�REAS, Alana went on to graduate from Providence College in 1996 with a degree in sociology. Her collegiate 5 athletic accomplishments inciude: being a three-time all-staz in hockey, Co-captain of the Providence College 6 Friars as a senior, and being named the 1995-1996 Eastern College AthleUc Conference Co-player of the yeaz; and, 7 WHEREAS, Alana became a two-time member of the U.S. Women's National Team (1996 and 1997), and 8 appeazed on U.S. Women's Select Teams in 1995, 1996 and 1997; and, 9 WHEREAS, Alana, through her hard work and desire for excelience exemplifies all that is great about Saint Paul, 10 now, 11 THEREFORE BE TT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Saint Paul, wannly 12 and proudly congratulates Alana Blahoski on her momentous achievement in attaining the gold medal in Women's 13 Hockey at the 1998 Olympic games in Nagano, Japan, and, 14 BE Tl' FTNALLY RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council appoints Alana Blahoski as an Honorary Mayor 15 and Good-wiil Ambassador of the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota.
