I �. � °� FS MINNESOTA Presented by Referred To �soLU�rlorr EsTaBLis�G a crrY PoLZCx To IDErrr�� a� CITY GOVERNMENT SOLUTIONS TO THE YEAR. 2000 (Y2K) P ao i WFIEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has a multi-million-dollar inveshnent in inform�{ion technology systems and 2 equipment responsible for providing services and 'unproving public safety for the�,ihzens of Saint Paul; and 3 WHEREAS, City computers, automated systems and equipment are threaten by the Year 2000 (Y2K) 4 problem and, unless immediately addressed, a great many automated syste s with mission-critical applications 5 will be negatively affected; and 6 WHEREAS, the City Department of Technology and Management S rvices is serving as the internal lead 7 agency to coordinate and develop a comprehensive solution to the ity's Y2K problem; and 8 Wf1EREAS, the City of Saint Paul has taken leadership in rai ng citywide awareness of the Y2K issue, has 9 created a citywide Y2K steering team and City agencies are ssessing and correcting their Y2K problems; now, 10 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul 'ty Council establishes, as City policy, the following ll measures which act to identify and implement City go ernment solutions to the Year 2000 (Y2K) problem: 12 1. Y2K solutions shall be a top City ority. With due consideration far mandated initiatives, each 13 agency shall defer commencing ew computer projects until essential systems aze Y2K 14 compliant. 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 2. Managers of each City ag cy shall be responsible to find and fix Y2K problems in their essential systems, in ac rdance with the Department of Technology and Management Services' Y2K Program, no late than December 1, 1999.
