BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul Police Deparhnent enter into a grant agreement with the
Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, for the project entitled SAFE &
SOBER COMMUNITIES during the period from October 1,1997 through September 30,1998.
Chief William Finney is hereby authorized to execute such agreements as are necessary to implement
the project on behalf of the Saint Paul Police Department.

in a program called Safe & SOber Communities. For the past two years the Traffic and Acciden
Unit of the Police Dept. has applied for and received grants totallinq more than $70,000. Mo t
of the money is used for overtime traffic enforcement. A small matching grant (up to 10$) is
used for the purchase of equipment.
