BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul Police Department enter into a grant agreement with the
Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, for the project enfitled SAFE &
SOBER COMMI7NITIES during the period from October 1,1996 through September 30,1997.
Chief William Finney is hereby authorized to execute such agreements as are necessary to implement
the project on behaif of the Saint Paul Police Department.

In early 1997 the City Council passed a resolution wnereby the City agreed to enter into an
agreement to accept a SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITE5 grant. The grant proposal was very specific an ,
upon review, the grant reviewer indicated that the langauge used to accept the grant did not
comply with grant guidelines. The Police Department was asked to resubmit a resolution for
approval that met granf guidelines. The proposed langauge is attached.

$20,000 in overtime.
