I have had the opportunity to work with John on several issues in the past year and I was impressed with his knowledge of local issues, politics , and people. His grasp of an issue and his ability to get right to the heart of a matter with a minimum of time and words lets me believe he would be an asset to the Planning Commission. John was able to listen to both sides oi an issue and ask pertinent questions before he would make a decision. When he reached a decision he told you what it was going to be and he stood by that decision. When working with John, I was impressed by his strong leadership skills . He is able to bring people together and get something accomplished. John has been Chair of the Senate District 67 DFL, Chair of the District 2 Conmunity Council and a Business Representative for IBEW Local 110. He worked as an intern to Representative Jim Farrell during the 1991 Legislative Session and was instrumental in getting a bill passed, which greatly increased the power of the State Board of Electricity. I feel that by appointing John to the Planning Commission, you would be getting a person who would be a real asset to the City of St. Paul . You would have a person with proven leadership qualities , who understands how the Legislature, the City Council , and the Community Councils function. He cares very much about the City of St. Paul and wants to help make the decisions that will take St. Paul into the next century.
