(December 12, 1992) _ __ _ _ . ' - , q3 -Z3 . Summary of Engineering Recommendations Report Prepared - November 12, 1992 Public Hearing - ? PROJECT Improve the intersection of PALACE AV. and COLBORNE ST. by taking and condemning the following described parcel of land; All of that part of lot 16 Blk. 3 STINSON BROWN AND RAMSEY'S ADD. lying within the following described line. Beginning at the south east corner of said lot 16; thence westerly along the south line of said lot 16 a distance of 45'; thence northeasterly to a point of the west line of said lot 16, 76' northerly of the south east corner of said lot 16 , thence southerly to the point of beginning. Also condemning and taking slope easements. EXISTING CONDITIONS These are oiled streets that will be torn up for the separation of sewers in the PALACE- TORONTO CSSP PROJECT. The intersection is very narrow due to a R.R. trestle that runs diagonally across the intersection. INITIATING ACTION This project was initiated by the Dept. of Public Works. PROPOSEDIMPROVEMENT Condemning and taking a triangular piece of land (45'x76'x88'). This will allow additional R/W to construct a standard width street. ALTERNATE Do nothing. The existing narrow intersection is not something that was ever designed and constructed but sort of evolved over time. The streets will have to be torn up for sewer construction and reconstructing them to the existing narrow configuration and within the existing R/W will become a liability for the City. COST ESTIMATE Acquisition Costs TOTAL $5,000 ESTIMATED FINANCING 1993 C.I.B. funds $5,000 . , 3 -z3 SOURCE OF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION If additional information is needed, please contact Jack Davis at 292-6281. RECOMMENDATION The Department of Public Works feels that this is a necessary and worthwhile project and the Engineering Recommendation is for the approval of the order.
