2 WHEREAS, the Civic Center expansion and renovation project includes certain elements for which
3 funding must be secured, and these elements include new kitchen equipment, new audio-visual and
4 telecommunication equipment and the reconstruction ofthe food court/coricession area; and
6 WI�REAS, the new kitchen includes built-in items such as hoods, refrigerators, counters, coolers, etc.
7 and in addition, portable equipment and softwares must also be purchased, the estimated cost for all new
8 kitchen equipment is $1,310,000; and

WHEREAS, the Expansion Coordinating Committee and the Civic Center Authority have evaluated two
options for the purchase of the kitchen equipment, and the first option is to secure the ec�uipment through the
Volume Services' lease and the second option is for the Civic Center Authority to secure financing for the
equipment purchase, and
WI-IEREAS, the financial analysis indicates that both the annual and net present value earnings on the
Volume Services' lease is substantially higher under the option that has the Civic Center Authority purchasing
the equipment; and
WHEREAS, the expansion project also includes the reconstruction of the food court at an estimated
cost of $225,000, and
WHEREAS, funding must be secured for the purchase of audio-visual and telecommunication
equipment in the estimated amount of $804,830; and

26 WHEREAS, the Expansion Coordinating Committee has adopted a Resolution recommending to the
27 Civic Center Authority that the Chairperson and Executive Director be authorized to work with the
28 Department ofFinance and Management Services, and the Department ofPlanning and Economic
29 Development to arrange financing for the kitchen equipment, the food court reconstruction and the audio-
30 visual and telecommunication equipment in an amount not to exceed $2,340,000; and

authorizing the financing of the aforementioned equipment and directing the Chairperson and Executive
