RE: POLICE PRESENCE
DATE: May 16, 1997
I have drafted a resolution pertaining to discussions that were held at the Community
Safety Meeting on Monday 12, 1997, that represents a solution for all the interested
parties.
The Selby beat officer would be on hand at times when the children are out on the
playground and would also coordinate the off-duty police officers' hours. He or she
would still be able to spend time on other portions of Selby Avenue as needed.
The resolution also recommends that the School Board provide the Selby Storefront
with office space and access to the school for community activities and, further, that
they assist in the funding of the off-duty police officer.
1 plan to have this resolution on the agenda for discussion at the May 28, 1997, City
Council meeting and would appreciate your comments prior to that date. Thank you for
your time and attention to this matter.
