RESOLUTIONACCEPTING THE REPORT OF THE SAINT PAUL CI7'Y COUNCIL
HISTORIC PRESERVATION - HO USING POLZCY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
1 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council established the Historic Preservation Housing Policy Advisory
2 Committee on December 20, 1995; and
3 WHEREAS, the Advisory Committee was charged with:
4 1. Developing specific policy recommendations for the Ciry Council and Housing and
5 Redevelopment Authority (F3RA) Board to assist them in policy and fixnding decisions on housing
6 rehabilitation and historic preservation;
7 2. Developing broad-based guidelines and recommendations regarding history, heritage and historic
8 preservation in Saint Paui; and
9 3. Considering the extent and conditions under which higher rehabilitation/restoration costs are
10 justified for preservation of historac character.
11 WHEREAS, the Advisory Committee was comprised of inembers representing District Councils,
l2 Community Development Corporations, Historic Preservation A.gencies, Community Organizations,
13 businesses and citizens; and
14 WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Housing Policy Advisory Committee was co-chaired by Mr.
15 Richard Murphy, Sr. member and former chair of the Heritage Preservation Foundation and Mrs.
16 Imogene Treichel, member and former chair of the Planning Commission; and
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the report of the
18 Historic Preservation Housing Policy Advisory Committee; and
19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council gratefully acknowledges the significant
20 leadership provided by the Co-Chairs of the Historic Preservation Housing Policy Advisory Committee;
21 and
22 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council recognizes the contributions in time,
23 thought and effort made by the membership of the Historic Preservation Housing Policy Advisory
24 Committee:
